Microsoft appoints new mobile and wireless head

Microsoft on Friday announced it would merge its mobile and hosting services units into one division, appointing 12-year company veteran Pieter Knook at its head.

Knook will take over the new Network Services Provider and Mobile Devices Group, which contains Microsoft’s Pocket PC platform and smartphones development project, also known as Stinger.

Knook previously headed up the NSP group and served as Microsoft’s President of Sales in Asia.
