Memphis Networx, Norlight opt for MetaSolv software solutions
Fresh off its acquisition of Nortel Networks’ operations support system assets, MetaSolv Software recently announced two new customer wins: metro carrier’s carrier Memphis Networx and service provider Norlight Communications.

Both deals were in the works when MetaSolv acquired Nortel’s remaining OSS software assets—notably, the Objectel inventory system, service-level management solutions and mediation software--but that did not stop the vendor from vying for customer wins.
“When you make a major change in your business, like the recent acquisition, that can cause customers and potential customers concerns,” a MetaSolv spokesman said. “Being able to finish both of these customer wins is important and says that we were able to present a compelling case to both of these customers on why they should finish the deal.”
Memphis Networx selected three components of the MetaSolv product suite as the foundation for its OSS: MetaSolv ASAP service activation, MetaSolv Objectel inventory management and MetaSolv OMS order management solutions. These will be used for more efficient management of the company’s inventory, customer orders and service activation.
Memphis Networx chose these solutions to streamline business processes for the delivery of broadband services. Systems Integrator TierOne OSS Technologies will help implement the MetaSolv solutions into Memphis Networx. The implementation should be completed in mid-May, the MetaSolv spokesman said.
Where Memphis Networx is the first customer win for MetaSolv’s newly acquired solutions, Wisconsin-based Norlight will use the latest version of the MetaSolv Solution as its OSS foundation. Version 5.1 will support service offerings such as Internet access, Web hosting, voice and managed services.
The MetaSolv Solution will help Norlight more efficiently manage its optical network with order processing, service provisioning, network inventory and design, trouble resolution and work-flow management business functions.
The carrier also is using MetaSolv professional services to help migrate databases and implement the MetaSolv Solution. The target date for completing the Norlight implementation, which includes data migration and solutions implementation, is early June of this year, the MetaSolv spokesman said.
The Norlight deal is MetaSolv’s first U.S. customer win for its 5.1 platform; Europe-based Completel first implemented the solution.
