Kent Ready to Leave Charter Communications

Charter Communications President/CEO Jerry Kent will not renew his employment agreement when it expires Dec. 23 and will resign from the board of directors as of Sept. 28. Kent, who will serve as a consultant to the company for the remainder of the year, also will sell his interests in Charter Investments Inc. to Charter’s Chairman Paul Allen.

Kent co-founded Charter and, in recent years, spearheaded 14 major acquisitions that increased Charter’s customer base from 1.3 million to about 7 million subscribers, making it the nation’s fourth largest multiple system operator (MSO).

Charter is expected to name a new CEO “as quickly as practical,” the company said.
