Kaplan to head Kestrel Solutions

Martin J. Kaplan has been named CEO, president and chairman of the board of Kestrel Solutions, an optical networking company. Kaplan, also a director of the Mountain View, Calif.-based company, has served as interim CEO since June 12.

Previously, Kaplan was CEO of TeON Optical Networks. In addition, he was senior vice president and chief technology officer at Sprint from August 1995 to October 2000.

Kestrel recently was awarded a master purchase contract from an unspecified RBOC for the use of the TalonMX, its 10 Gb/s solution designed to increase the capacity of existing fiber networks.
