Safe3w’s identification software will be integrated into iPass’ connectivity platform, and will enable IT managers to recognize the mobile devices logged into the corporate network and more tightly restrict access solely to authorized users. iPass plans to complete the integration by the end of 2004.

The acquisition will strengthen the Policy Orchestration initiative iPass announced in July. The company describes Policy Orchestration as a layer of software intelligence built into its connectivity platform that enables iPass services to control and enforce enterprise security systems such as VPNs, personal firewalls and anti-virus solutions.
