IntelliNet gears up for pre-paid

One week after releasing its Phase 4 application interface for CAMEL (customized application for mobile network enhanced logic) to support intelligent network (IN) concepts in next generation wireless networks, application software development provider IntelliNet Technologies took a step back yesterday and introduced a new version ofits Accelero product that includes ISUP and other capabilities for supporting today’s pre-paid market.

“We have to make sure we have a foothold in that market with ISUP (ISDN user part) first. And when customers are ready for CAMEL we have that too. Once they start using Accelero they have future-proofed their investment for new markets,” said Siva Tripuraneni, director of product marketing for IntelliNet.

Ten-year-old Melbourne, Fla.-based IntelliNet provides wireless and IN infrastructure software, such as SS7 protocol stacks, to application developers, system integrators and equipment manufacturers. The new release (version 6.2) of Accelero, its flagship product for application development, also includes support for distributed MTP3 (message transfer part), which allows users to expand the number of SS7 links without the need for a new point code. In the SS7 world, adding a point code may require massive reconfiguration by many service providers.

In addition to chasing the pre-paid market with its ISUP support -- where it recently won a contract with a large, unnamed prepaid provider in the U.S. -- IntelliNet will step up efforts in certain foreign markets. The company has added ETSI (European Telecommunications Standardization Institute) supports and variants of protocols such as SCCP and TCAP for the market in China.

“We haven’t been aggressive there but we are now pursuing resellers and OEMs more aggressively to address those [foreign] markets and we’re expanding our sales as well. That’s where there is some telecom action,” Tripuraneni said.

With the new release, Accelero now supports more vendor equipment such as Acculab, Adax, Radisys and SBE, and has found success in the market for location based services as well, including a recent win with TeleCommunications Systems (TCS.)
