InvisiLINK allows enterprises to connect remote LANs and link individuals that are physically separated from an Intellicom SkyPOP installation by distances up to 16 miles.
Intellicom offers three distinct solutions in the InvisiLINK line: InvisiLINK Bridge, InvisiLINK Enterprise, and InvisiLINK ISP.
InvisiLINK solutions enable users of Intellicom’s SkyPOP VSAT systems to extend and distribute the bandwidth provided by the Intellicom satellite broadband network. Intellicom’s SkyPOP service provides two-way, high-speed satellite-based broadband network connectivity to locations globally.
The SkyPOP, however, is limited in its ability to distribute bandwidth beyond the local LAN. Enterprises with end-users who are dispersed across locations not linked via ethernet cable have had to install wireline connections in order to get their remote users on the network.
InvisiLINK provides a wireless alternative.
“Effectively distributing bandwidth has been one of the primary challenges facing satellite broadband networking,” said Bryan Kemper, Intellicom product manager of wireless solutions. “A single SkyPOP system can provide T1-quality wireless connectivity virtually anywhere in the Western Hemisphere. But our customers that wanted to link multiple locations to their SkyPOPs faced significant wireline infrastructure costs. With our new InvisiLINK solutions, our customers can quickly and cost-effectively distribute very high bandwidth to their endusers and link dispersed LANs via wireless connections. InvisiLINK is a significant expansion of Intellicom’s product line and we are confident that it will be well received in the marketplace.”
All three products in the InvisiLINK family provide up to 11 Mbps throughput, offer industry-standard encryption technology and operate in the 2.4 GHz industrial scientific medical band, meaning that anyone in the United States can use the InvisiLINK hardware without a license.
InvisiLINK local premise equipment consists of an outdoor antenna, a cable to connect the antenna to the InvisiLINK hardware, and a lightning arrestor to protect the sensitive electronics from damage because of electrical storms.
