Intel, Compaq collaborate on wireless data

Intel and Compaq Computer have agreed to collaborate to advance the development of wireless handheld devices and applications to be used for accessing and transmitting data via the Internet.

Compaq also will support the Intel Personal Internet Client Architecture initiative [Intel PCA], Intel’s development blueprint for building the wireless handheld devices that will combine voice and Internet-access capabilities.

The two companies will cooperate to enable multimedia applications to run on Intel PCA-based devices for current-generation and next-generation wireless networks. Compaq also agreed to support Intel’s efforts to incorporate Compaq iPAQ Pocket PCs as part of its Intel PCA developer kits.
