Home networking chip market on the rise

The home networking silicon market is expected to grow from $650 million in 2002 to $1.07 billion this year, in large part from advances in wireless LAN technology as well as new protocols such as HomePlug, according to In-Stat/MDR. Going forward, though, the company predicts that the emergence of media networks and devices such as on-line gaming consoles, audio components and personal video recorders will drive future growth of this market.
