Gotham, Opthos do multivendor test

Gotham Networks, maker of the Switchless Switch multiservice network edge architecture, and Opthos, developer of IP-managed metro network core solutions, participated in a live demo of interoperability between their products. The demo featured a two-fiber core ring comprised of a three-node Opthos IW1000 system, two of Gotham’s GN 1600 edge devices and equipment from three other vendors—LuxN, Metro-Optix and Nishan Systems. The GN 1600s carried OC-3 ATM live video traffic onto an outgoing OC-48 ATM cell stream transported through an Opthos metro ring.

In other news, Gotham announced that it has completed two beta test of its architecture with two national data service providers, and is currently engaged in four other betas with another national data carrier, a cable MSO and two ICPs. During the next few months, Gotham also will be working on completing its third round of financing, and has briefed about 40 potential investors so far, said Laura Howard, chief marketing officer at Gotham.
