Lynch, who had been promoted from an executive vice president to president of Motorola’s telematics business in January, will have a lot to live up to because Zafirovski was known for revamping Motorola’s personal communications business, which generated about $2.6 billion in second quarter sales.
Lynch’s promotion is just one of many high-profile shifts that have occurred at Motorola, a fact that has not gone unnoticed in the analyst community.
In a time when a company needs to focus on reorganization, it is critical to maintain top-tier strength, said Hasan Imam, partner and senior research analyst for Thomas Weisel Partners.
“There is concern that there has been too much turnover at the high management levels over the last 12 months,” Imam said.
