Extreme’s pro forma beats street by a penny

Ethernet networking equipment vendor Extreme networks posted pro forma earnings that beat analyst estimates by a penny for the second fiscal quarter 2002. For the quarter ending Dec. 31, 2001, the company reported net income of $2 million, or 2 cents per share, bettering the analyst consensus of 1cent per share profit.

Extreme’s actual net loss for the quarter, including amortization of goodwill and intangible assets as well as deferred compensation, was $10.7 million, or 9 cents per share, compared to a net profit of $8.1 million, or 7 cents per share, year-over-year. But the company’s performance improved against the first fiscal quarter, when Extreme posted a net loss of $36 million, or 9 cents per share.
