Ex-MCI VP to lead Broadwing government services group

Broadwing Communications has hired Diana Gowen to launch a new initiative within the company to target federal, state and local government customers. Gowen is the former vice president of MCI Government Markets, whose customers included the U.S. Departments of Defense, State and Homeland Security. Her 25 years in the telecom industry also includes a tenure at AT&T.

Broadwing’s appointment of Gowen as VP of government solutions is only the latest in a series of new-blood injections the company has announced since it became a Corvis subsidiary last year. In November the company appointed former Deloitte Consulting Technology Director Pete Crocitto as its chief information officer. And in October, CEO Mike Spagnolo hired three new executives: VP of Network Operations John McLeod, Mid-markets President Mike Stewart and Human Resources VP Jack Brooks.
