Ericsson alters management structure

Responding to the market downturn around the world, Ericsson has decided to change the structure of its organization. The company will create new global customer units that will focus on its large global customers, including Vodafone Group, France Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica and Telecom Italia Mobile.

The heads of the global customer units and the market areas will report to CEO Kurt Hellstrom. In September, Per-Arne Sandstrom, who currently oversees the company’s North American market, will be named chief operating officer and will report directly to Hellstrom.

Sandstrom is expected to implement and head a product and service structure based on five business units, including mobile systems wideband-CDMA and GSM; multiservice networks and data backbone; mobile systems CDMA; transmission and transport; and global services.
