The VQS can be used as an add-on to the Hammer VoIP Test System to support scoring algorithms such as PSQM, PSQM+ and PAMS.

Included in the VQS is server software that does voice scoring and a rackmountable, dual 850 MHz Pentium processor computer.

“This VQS system lets the user ship the data off to the ancillary PC to do the calculation and thus liberates the CPU of the test system from having to make those calculations, increasing capacity,” said Phil Odence, director of marketing for Empirix.

The VQS does voice scoring on the time division multiplexing (TDM) side.

“There was a step back in the technology when voice over IP was introduced that compromised on voice quality,” Odence said. “This automated testing from the TDM side to the TDM side is a way to assess really what problems are being created in between.”
