DT’s 2001 net loss totaled about $3.04 billion in 2001. The loss reportedly would have been greater if DT hadn’t booked gains on asset sales, including stakes in Sprint and a regional cable-television unit. The operator’s sales actually rose 18% during 2001.

Analysts expect VoiceStream, which has yet to be profitable, to break even this quarter.

VoiceStream kept average revenue per user unchanged in the fourth quarter at $49 even though it added 667,400 new customers.
