DSLAM market jumps

Driven largely by strong subscriber growth and falling prices, the number of Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer ports shipped in 2003 more than doubled compared to 2002, according to a recently released report from In-Stat/MDR. And while the growth occurred worldwide, the Asia-Pacific markets, where Korea and Japan are racing toward near ubiquitous coverage, accounted for 48% of all DSLAM port shipments in 2003. Additionally, the average selling price per DSLAM port, worldwide, dropped by more than 30% in 2003.
