Dorman tapped to head AT&T

AT&T on Wednesday named David Dorman CEO and chairman of the board, succeeding Michael Armstrong after he leaves to take over the newly formed AT&T Comcast cable empire.

Currently President of AT&T, Dorman has supervised AT&T’s core consumer and enterprise operations since December 2000. Beforehand he ran PacBell and served as Vice President of SBC Communications.

AT&T’s board voted to approve the sale of AT&T Broadband to Comcast last week, and many industry observers speculated Armstrong would join the new mammoth cable venture.
