Dobson to transition to GSM/GPRS
Influenced by its roaming partners, Cingular Wireless and AT&T Wireless, Dobson Communications has decided to go down the GSM/GPRS path.

This means the rural operator will have to build a parallel GSM-based network alongside its current TDMA network, which will allow it eventually to upgrade to GPRS.
The carrier did not disclose a timeframe for when the new network would be completed. Dobson did announce that it has agreed to a new 10-year roaming relationship with Cingular Wireless.--Kelly Carroll, Staff Writer
