Dobson retails with Lightbridge

Dobson Communications has licensed Lightbridge’s Retail Management System and also will use the vendor’s consulting services to support operations at its 260 retail stores in 16 states. The carrier, which is based in Oklahoma City and serves primarily rural customers under the Dobson Cellular Systems and CellularOne brands, has used Lightbridge’s Customer Acquisition System for several years to screen customer requests for service activation. The RMS is a point-of-sale system for inventory control transaction processing, service activation and cash drawer management. Dobson is hiring Lightbridge consultants to integrate the two systems. The licensing agreement was described by the companies as a multimillion dollar deal, but further details were not disclosed.
