The system, Delta’s first for switches, enables carriers to upgrade their power systems to 10,000 Amps, or 604kW, in one unit. It’s designed for use by wireline providers, mobile switching centers and data centers.<p>

The seven-foot frame of the HDS 7200 provides room for 84 rectifiers and various distribution units, allowing flexible DC distribution to switches and data centers.

Samuel Norman, Delta’s manager of sales operations, says the new series was designed with ease of installation in mind. “It’s compact at 23 to 48 inches when space is at a premium, so it allows for ease of installation by one person vs. several.”

The product is also scalable, allowing carriers to customize in order to support lower or higher power needs within the same unit.

Another series feature is the browser-based remote monitoring system that allows carriers to manage systems via the Internet, Ethernet, SNMP or LAN connections, without installing additional equipment interfaces.

Norman said three of the top five service carriers have contracts with Delta for the series.
