Consumer groups ask FCC to clarify broadband rules

Several consumer groups led by the Telecommunications Research and Action Center filed a petition with the Federal Communications this week that asks the commission to clarify the broadband portion of the Triennial Review Order so that apartment buildings, condominiums and cooperatives are treated like all other residential neighborhoods. The groups are concerned that the FCC's deregulation of fiber to the home could be interpreted as meaning single family units only, which would discourage broadband deployment to multiple tenant units that serve about 100 million Americans.
