The five-year deal calls for CEC to provide EurekaGGN with access to its fiber optic broadband network. In turn EurekaGGN will give CEC’s customers access to the “last inch,” in approximately 150 buildings in New York City where EurekaGGN has access, said Chris Metaxas, vice president of business development for CEC.

As a carriers’ carrier, CEC will also gain access to EurekaGGN’s points of presence from which to serve other BLECs, interexchange carriers and competitive local exchange carriers, said Metaxas.

CEC expects the partnership to generate about $10 million in revenues by enabling a faster time-to-market for itself as well as its carrier customers, said Metaxas. In addition, CEC will be able to give more value to other carriers by allowing them to offer more diverse services and the ability to expand their business plans and models, he said.

The EurekaGGN partnership is only one part of CEC’s network build-out. The carrier plans to have 40 buildings lit by July and 120 lit by the end of the year, according to Metaxas. In addition CEC has expansion plans for 19 other cities in the Northeastern U.S. As CEC expands to other cities, the company will take advantage of its EurekaGGN partnership, he said, adding that partnerships with other BLECs are in the works.
