The Europe*Star 1 satellite system will allow CBL to deliver broadband Internet and IP streaming services to business-to-business and business-to-consumer markets within Europe and the Middle East.
CBL will also offer an open DVB/IP platform, uplink and managed data services to these regions, through its newly equipped facilities in Luxembourg. CBL has already developed an extensive distribution network for StarSpeeder.
“This is a highly significant customer for Europe*Star, proof that the versatility of our new multi-regional broadcast satellite is winning customers from established local DTH platforms,” says David Chégnion, head of sales for Europe*Star. "CBL's customers and their applications qualify one of our pre-launch target market profiles for users of the Europe*Star 1 system, with a single uplink delivering IP traffic to small dishes across several regions."
Markus Paquet, CEO of CBL, agreed: “Europe*Star 1 gives us the possibility of reaching the world’s most interesting markets. Europe*Star's high EIRP and flexible configuration are ideally suited for the applications and services we plan to offer. We found Europe*Star extremely professional for such a new organization, and their competitive offer enables us to reach throughout Europe and the Middle East, and further on to any of the other regions the Europe*Star system covers”.
Europe*Star 1 is a high-powered Ku-band geostationary satellite equipped with thirty transponders, recently launched and now on-station at 45 degrees East, from where it will provide coverage and interconnection between Europe, Southern Africa, the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and South East Asia. Europe*Star 1 provides unique transponder-by-transponder connectivity, interconnecting each of the coverage areas and allowing highly flexible service possibilities for a wide variety of small dish applications.
Through relationships such as this with CBL, Europe*Star is establishing itself as the new broadband satellite operator, enabling innovative business-to-business and business-to-consumer applications for the future, with the unique capability of ‘single-hop’ delivery to small dishes and over three billion people within the Europe*Star footprints.
