Carrier Access cuts jobs

Broadband communications equipment vendor Carrier Access cut about 18% of its work force today in an effort to become profitable again.

Most of the 75 job cuts will come from the company’s Boulder, Colo., and Roanoke, Va., offices and will consist of engineers, sales and support staffs. When finalized, Carrier Access will employ about 350 people.

Carrier Access this week announced it would report lower-than-expected first-quarter revenues between $16 million and $18 million.
