"We are taking a completely novel approach to this," said Andrew Bezaitis, Cambia president & CEO.
The company’s CDMA Packet Data System 1.0 offers comprehensive subscriber management, service differentiation and mobility management. The system also is available on Linux (www.linux.com) and IBM’s (www.ibm.com) eServer xSeries, both of which allow high-bandwidth data services.
Paul Riley, Cambia software engineer, helped demonstrate the system through a load test, showing that a complete system could handle up to half a million calls at once.
Riley said the system’s software, now using Pentium III (www.pentium.com) processors, is able to be upgraded as new technology becomes available.
"We’ll be able to take advantage of advances in technology," Riley said.
Bezaitis said the system, which is standards-based, easily can be integrated with existing systems because of its open architecture.
"Putting this all together is really breakthrough," Bezaitis said. "People here [at Supercomm] see this as a tremendous innovation in this space. It’s where we excel."
Bezaitis said the system would be available within
the next 45 days.
