Cablevision cuts 600 jobs

Cablevision announced Thursday it would cut 4% of its workforce, mainly among corporate, administrative and technical ranks, in an attempt to restructure.

The multiple system operator will take a $55 million charge in the fourth quarter related to the job cuts, Cablevision officials said. The New York-based operator has slowly built momentum in its cable division, but its sport franchises have offset many of its cable gains. Cablevision owns both the New York Nicks basketball team and the New York Rangers hockey team.--Kevin Fitchard
