Under terms of the agreement, Listen.com will become a member of BroadJump’s ChannelDirect Program, and pre-integrate its Rhapsody service with BroadJump’s ControlWorks Activation Edition. That software, currently used by most of the major broadband service providers, allows users to self-install DSL and cable modem service.

“We’re really focusing on lowering the barrier of entry for broadband service providers to bring compelling services to their users,” said Kenny Van Zant, chief operating officer of BroadJump.

In practical terms, broadband users installing their own service will be given the option during installation to sign up for the Rhapsody service, which provides unlimited access to more than 15,000 albums of music online. The service also lets users build custom radio stations from more than 185,000 tracks.

According to Van Zant, broadband providers also can integrate the BroadJump software into any customer interaction, including help desks or as part of e-mail marketing campaigns.

“That little unit of work can be leverage at any of the subscriber touch points,” he said.
