Blonder-Tongue, Lindsay team up on addressable taps

Blonder-Tongue Laboratories, continuing to pursue cable’s niche interdiction market, will collaborate with Lindsay Electronics in producing an addressable tap that lets cable operators turn existing Lindsay’s passive taps into addressable taps.

Operators use addressable taps located on outside cable plant to remotely control the on/off function of individual subscriber premises access to cable. The new collaboration will provide savings between 25% and 30% compared to the cost of addressable taps available from other manufacturers, the companies said.

The new taps will be available in 4 or 8 port units starting in late summer.
