BellSouth expands home security offering
BellSouth announced today that it has launched its line of home security systems and monitoring services provided by Protection One into Louisville, Ky.

A basic installed residential system will start at $199. Customers can upgrade their systems to include wireless operation, integrated keypads and control panels, battery backup and latchkey paging.
The BellSouth/Protection One alliance provides similar services in major cities throughout the southern U.S., including Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte, N.C., Orlando, Tampa, Fla., Memphis, Tenn., and Nashville, Tenn.
According to Lin Atkinson, director of residential services for BellSouth, providing security services via its partnership with Protection One is a logical extension for the carrier.
