BCE Teleglobe launches IP VPN service

BCE Teleglobe today announced the commercial availability of its global IP VPN data network and suite of IP VPN services. Using routers from Cisco Systems and Juniper, the company is targeting the large enterprise users that want the security and quality of service of private networks without the cost.

In the U.S., that will translate into the company chasing a lot of frame relay networks, said Gregory Ewert, vice president of data services for BCE Teleglobe. Outside the U.S., particularly in Asia, the company will be approaching more greenfield environments, emphasizing its MPLS-enabled backbone.

As part of the rollout today, BCE Teleglobe also said it has signed an agreement with China Telecom to establish an IP VPN interconnection into China. As part of the deal, BCE Teleglobe will offer its IP VPN customers extended access into China.
