AT&T Labs gets new CTO

AT&T has named Hossein Eslambolci, the company’s senior vice president of packet and optical networks, as its new chief technology officer and president of AT&T Labs. He replaces Dave Nagel, who is leaving to become president and CEO of Palm’s Platform Solutions business, a new Palm subsidiary.

Eslambolchi joined AT&T Bell Laboratories in 1985 and is credited with helping design the company’s IP network. This is his second major career move in recent months. In December 2000, Cisco Systems announced Eslambolchi had accepted the position of senior vice president of service-provider solutions, only to have him choose to stick with AT&T one month later.
