The contract affects the network and communications technicians, customer service representatives (CSRs) and operators that are members of the CWA, and would replace the current contract, which will expire on May 11.

Due to the string of layoffs at AT&T during the past four years--20,000 jobs have been cut--the CWA wants to ensure that CWA members get access to jobs in growth areas at AT&T, better retirement security, quality health care, and improved work conditions for CSRs.

CWA currently has union members “practice picketing” at AT&T sites to make customers and the carrier aware that quality jobs are not only critical to the carrier, but for the workers as well.
