AT&T Broadband to buy Motorola set-tops

Motorola announced yesterday that AT&T Broadband has agreed to buy 200,000 new DCT2500 digital set-top terminals in 2002 to provide AT&T’s digital-cable subscribers improved performance, guide enhancements and better graphics.

The DCT2500 is an upgrade of Motorola’s “core-interactive” digital set-top. Enhancements include more memory, additional processing power, scaled video and vertical blanking interval (VBI) data extraction.

The set-top terminal was launched this week at the Western Cable Show 2001 in Anaheim, Calif. It will begin shipping in mid-2002.
