Alcatel leads $33M Tropic round

Alcatel announced an investment in optical equipment vendor Tropic Networks this week without divulging many details about the deal. Tropic today announced that Alcatel led a group of existing Tropic investors in a $33-million "series-D" financing round. Those existing investors included Celtic House Venture Partners, Crescendo Ventures, Goldman Sachs, Kodiak Venture Partners and Teachers' Private Capital, the private equity arm of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. This round raises Tropic’s total funding to about $120 million.
