Alcatel deploys first greenfield FTTU network

Alcatel announced today that it is providing passive optical network (PON) equipment for a fiber-to-the-user rollout in a new golf community in Choudrant, La. Squire Creek Communications, a provider created by the Squire Creek golf community developers, will deploy video, voice and data services over the network to the new development. The deal is Alcatel’s first contract for a new development, and Alcatel said it demonstrates the flexibility of its 7340 FTTU product with different sorts of service providers.
