AGL Resources Addresses High Gas Prices

The high cost of natural gas is prompting some companies to take proactive steps to help consumers, which includes increasing staff at call centers to handle the increased volume.

"We are aware that the high cost of natural gas and the unusually cold weather throughout the country and in Georgia this winter has had significant economic impact on natural gas consumers--especially those in need of energy assistance," says Nick Gold for AGL Resources in Atlanta. "We take this matter very seriously and in fact are providing special funding to United Way's 211 program, which provides energy assistance to elderly and low-income consumers."

The company says it is also committed to meeting with local community groups to address their concerns.
