The acceSS7 CDR Agent monitors SS7 messages; the CerebrusRE is a fraud detection and management application. The combined solution increases the visibility of activities that indicate fraud.
“By pulling both [solutions] together, we, in effect, substantially increase the view the fault manager can have of what’s going on in the network,” said Mike Waddell, vice president of business development for Nortel Networks Fraud Solutions.
Available to carriers worldwide, the solution will be adapted to fit each carrier’s particular network implementations and can be used for wireline, wireless and voice-over-IP environments.
All major categories of fraud will be combated with this solution, including as revenue fraud, configuration errors, ghosting fraud and roaming fraud in mobile networks.
“We’re looking at a global problem in the order of $25 billion to $30 billion per annum,” Waddell said. “So it’s a significant issue that impacts the bottom line of a telco’s business, and that becomes even more crucial in the current economic climate.”
