AFN selects Ciena for optical equipment
AFN Communications has selected Ciena as the primary supplier of optical networking equipment for AFN’s 8,000-mile fiber footprint, Ciena officials said Wednesday.

AFN will deploy Ciena’s intelligent optical core switches, dense wave division multiplexing solution and its multi-service access and switching platform over the 6,000 unlit route miles. Ciena said shipments will begin immediately.
AFN plans to offer private line DS-3 to OC-48 and optical wave services over the mesh network..
