During the GSM World Congress last month, Xacct demonstrated why it was the right time for Xacctmobile. “The mobile data market is maturing, and there are a few applications that have picked up speed, such as SMS and multimedia messaging services,” said Anil Uberoi, senior vice president of marketing and business development.
Uberoi said that although overseas mobile operators are getting ready to launch some advanced mobile data services, they remain unsure about how to charge for them.
Xacctmobile performs SMS accounting, provides real-time prepayment for m-commerce and attributes data traffic to specific content services. It also has a vendor-neutral charging gateway built in for carriers that rely on multiple vendors.
More than 10 mobile operator customers have installed Xacctmobile, including Bell Canada, BT, Cable & Wireless, Motorola, Omnitel Vodafone, Siemens and Telus. While half of the company's revenue last year came from companies outside of the U.S., Uberoi said two of the top five U.S. carriers have installed Xacct's platform and are testing the mobile solutions suite.
