WorldCom speeds traffic with Optisphere
In a trial of Siemens subsidiary Optisphere's optical networking equipment, WorldCom reached speeds of 3.2 Tb/s on existing network fiber. To reach that speed, the companies used 80 wavelengths, each at 40 Gb/s.

As part of a multimillion dollar deal, Qwest Communications will deploy Sonus Networks' GSX 9000 open services switch, INtelligentIP softswitch, PSX6000 softswitch and SGX2000 SS7 signaling gateway in order to offer IP services over its nationwide IP network.
