Nextel Chairman and CEO Daniel Ackerson announced that he will leave his post to become co-chairman of Craig McCaw's Eagle River Investments, which holds McCaw's interests in Nextel, Nextlink and Teledesic. Nextel President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Donahue has been promoted to CEO, and Ackerson will stay on as chairman until January 2000.
