"This promotion acknowledges the tremendous management role that Joan, Jason and Vince have played in shaping our editorial product," said Telephony Publisher Mark Hickey. "Telephony's dominant readership position is a direct reflection of their leadership in delivering a publication that connects so strongly with our readers' professional lives."
Under the new organization, Engebretson will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the magazine and for the technology sections, including switching & transmission, intelligence & software, wireless networks and new media. Meyers will oversee the features and news sections of the magazine. Vittore will be directly responsible for Telephony's A.M. Report.
Engebretson joined Telephony in 1996 as features editor and moved to the news editor position in January. She has a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in marketing from the University of Michigan.
Meyers began his career at Telephony in 1993. Originally hired as associate editor-production, he was promoted to wireless editor in 1996 and to technology editor in January. Meyers has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Michigan State University.
Vittore has been Telephony's new media editor since 1997. He was previously an editor at Cable World and America's Network. Vittore has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Indiana University.
