ISDN S/T interface An ISDN S/T interface is available on the SCG subsystem that plugs into an Abacus system. Abacus is a modular and expandable test system for creating telephone traffic or switching. The SCG has five circuits to a card and can be configured under software control as a call generator or as a switch. Physical connection to the SCG is with five RJ-45 connectors or a 50-pin telco connector. As a call generator, the user selects whether the card should emulate the NT or the TE. As a switch, the SCG emulates the NT and routes calls among any other channels in an Abacus system. Prices range from $12,000 to $250,000. Zarak Systems Corp.

RF vector network analyzers The MS462x family of RF vector network analyzers measure error-corrected noise on active devices used in wireless communications. The analyzers allow the vector network analyzers to make both S-parameter and NF measurements with a single test connection. An optional third test port simplifies testing of multiple-port components. All four analyzers offer dynamic range up to 125 dB, spurious rejection as low as -95 dBc and a phase-locked synthesized source with 1 Hz resolution. The analyzers can correct for test-port power variations by performing a flat power calibration with an external power meter. Pricing starts at $19,850. Anritsu Co.

Script generator With the Fireberd 6000 dynamic script generator, users can generate and run custom analysis scripts that control and gather information from the Fireberd 6000. It eliminates the need to use reference manuals for remote control commands, allows test setups to be created and shared between analyzers, supports simplified configuration and enables multiple test scripts to be created and run in succession. The user interface can be configured through the software's on-line help feature. The script generator costs $1995. TTC

ISDN and POTS system The POTS+BRI system consists of a line-powered remote terminal and a central office terminal. It provides ISDN service and a POTS lifeline over a single copper pair up to 18 kft. from the CO. The system has a fail-to-POTS option that enables the DSL line to revert to dial-tone operation in the event of a power or system failure. The unit features basic rate ISDN and a 64 kb/s POTS line over a single pair; a 4TEL and MLT compatible POTS line. It is NEBS Level 3 compliant. Charles Industries Ltd.

Mobile radio duplexer The CCDP-59 is a specialized mobile radio duplexer custom-designed for minimal insertion loss and high-power handling capability. With less than 0.35 dB of insertion loss over 806 to 824 and 851 to 867 MHz, the unit can handle more than 1 kW of power. The device achieves more than 70 dB of rejection in the adjacent band. It is housed in a package size of 8.55 by 6.2 by 3.25 in. ClearComm Technologies Inc.
