360networks sheds staff; Yipes opens in New York City
Long-haul carrier 360networks last week announced it will lay off about 800 employees — 44% percent of its workers — to contain costs. On June 15, the company said it would not make a $10.9 million interest payment on $2.5 billion of debt.

Yipes Communications today announced service in New York City, its 21st market, where it has signed up eight customers. Separately, the company announced it is serving commercial properties owned by Rudin Management Co., a large, privately held real estate entity in New York City.
