360networks sheds staff; Yipes opens in New York City

Long-haul carrier 360networks last week announced it will lay off about 800 employees — 44% percent of its workers — to contain costs. On June 15, the company said it would not make a $10.9 million interest payment on $2.5 billion of debt.
