The mother of all PCS auctions?

The biggest PCS license auction yet, encompassing nearly 1500 operating licenses in the D, E and F blocks, is set to begin on Aug. 26.

As of late July, the Federal Communications Commission had completed and issued modified auction rules and could foresee no delays to that start of the action. This is a far cry from the first two auctions, which were delayed several months before starting.

This massive final auction, however, does involve some differences from previous auctions. All 1479 10-MHz chunks of spectrum in the D, E and F blocks will be auctioned simultaneously, despite the fact that F block licenses have been targeted at PCS entrepreneurs.
