MORE MONEY FOR E-RATE

The third year of the e-rate program, which funds discounts on Internet access and other telecom services for schools and libraries, will be fully funded at $2.25billion to meet rising demand, FCC Chairman William Kennard announced. This year, institutions filed 36,000 applications requesting $4.7 billion in discounts. Last year, 82% of U.S. public schools and more than half of all public libraries participated in the program.
