Lucent: IP services possible over existing switches
Lucent Technologies unveiled a solution during last week's Supercomm in Atlanta that allows service providers to deliver Internet protocol features and services without abandoning existing switches. End users would see an IP phone that plugs into a local area network as opposed to a telephony port. Incumbent local exchange carriers are the target market.
