The judge says no - again

A California PUC judge rejected an SBC/Pacific Bell proposal to stop treating Internet calls as local calls, which could have boosted Internet costs by up to 35%. Pacific Bell currently must pay reciprocal compensation fees for Internet use when customers use competing local phone companies' networks to reach their ISPs. The California PUC rebuffed earlier Pacific Bell efforts to end reciprocal compensation for Internet calls in October 1998 and July 1999.
