IPTV, youth key telco goals

The gap to offer video services is narrowing, according to the third annual Telephony and Tellabs informal poll of attendees at Globalcomm. More than half of respondents said telcos will be competitive in video within a year, improved from last year when 54% thought telcos would compete within three years. IPTV is gaining in importance; 57% plan to deliver the technology within five years. And Echo Boomers continue their reign; 53% consider them “extremely important.”
